The Princessa de Asturias-class armoured cruisers were modified versions of the Infanta Maria Teresa-class ships. Financial difficulties caused their construction to drag on, which meant they were not completed in time for the Spanish-American War, only entering service between 1902 and 1904.
An additional problem was that their design increasingly lagged behind the latest trends in the construction of this type of warship. Although their armour and armament were modernised to some extent, in their overall form they remained very similar to their predecessors, along with all of their flaws — flaws that became even more apparent in the early 20th century. These ships were clearly inferior to contemporary vessels of the same class being built elsewhere.
Nevertheless, thanks to somewhat better armour than the original design and more modern main guns, these ships will provide a very significant reinforcement for the Spanish Navy.
The models in the set are resin, 3D printed and can be damaged if not handled properly. All models are unpainted. Glue and paints are not included. Contains small parts and is not intended for use by children under 14 years of age.
